I never get done with my chore of praying,
But nevertheless that’s no cause for dismaying.
Truly I find, my hope isn’t decaying;
For oh, the great peace that such action’s conveying
Each day when I work at this chore of praying.

Of a surety now, all the effort is paying
My faith—it’s improving. My doubts—they are fraying.
The burdens I carry—much less they are weighing.
My Lord is quite faithful, and never betraying;
So, on I’ll proceed with my chore of praying.
